I am at the start of something new as you see in the above image. This beginning stage is a very elementary sketch. Parts are even like stick figures. This is just to work out my composition, and then I apply a very thin wash of oil paint over the background and foreground. This may be my very favorite part of painting—the beginning design issues.

Ah yes, I know I still need to finish the "Aggie Lab"—a joke is in there somewhere.

  1. It is fun to watch a development of an artwork. I tend to find if I don't get the design right at the beginning that I have to rework it later and waste a lot of time.
