Life is like a Painting

Use wisely what you have been given and you will be given more.  MATTHEW 25:29

Life is like a painting. Both progress in stages. Start early. First get the exercises out of the way; then refine. Enjoy the painting. Enjoy life. Enjoy the process of both. Either can be destroyed in an instant. Be true to God and true to yourself.

My painting of the Addicks Bear Creek Methodist Chapel was selected to the Artists of Texas "Rites of Spring" exhibit. This piece was painted with a palette knife and oil paint on linen wrapped board. The Addicks-Bear Creek Methodist Chapel, on the Texas Historical Register, is located along Hwy. 6 in the northwest quadrant of Greater Houston. History: Established in 1879, Bear Creek German Methodist Church served settlers in southeast Texas. In 1884 the Bear Creek community became Addicks—named after Henry Addicks, the town's first postmaster. In 1968 this small chapel was still in a country setting alongside the two lane Hwy. 6/FM1960 that cut through prairie and then a pine forest. Recent years of development have surrounded the church with wider highways, subdivisions and city trappings. Addicks-Bear Creek Chapel was saved from demolition by adding it to the historical register.

As a child, I was reprimanded for daydreaming. Today my daydreams morph into paintings.
