"Yoshi" Boxer 5x7 pastel - HAPPY NEW YEAR!

© 2008 Vernita Bridges-Hoyt
the Boxer pup who just keeps growing

When Yoshi came to live with us in the Fall of 2006, he was just a small thing and could walk underneath my Border Collie easily. Today 8 year old Border Collie Brooke can walk beneath Yoshi's stomach. He's grown that much. He thinks the couch is his and steals a nap on any bed when he can find a bedroom door open. At 75 pounds he is heavier than my 10 year old grandson. His favorite game is to run across the backyard and run UP the wooden fence which catapults him into the air more than half his body length above the fence top. Need I say, we heard enough squeals of fright from the sidewalk that we nailed a "Beware of Dog" sign to the fence. He isn't into eating people. Yoshi just loves the excitement of flying through the air.

What a great way to start the New Year--carefree and fun loving as Yoshi!

  1. Awww, he looks and sounds like a happy dog. Great painting too.

I have a Boxer patient, who has a tongue exactly like that. His name is Bubba Johnson. He's a medium size boxer, with a average size head, but that tongue . . . .

You look at it and say to yourself, "There is no way it can fit in his mouth. . ." But it does.

  2. This is really, really good!

Looks like you have captured his spirit.

  3. That is exactly what we say about Yoshi ... how can that tongue fit in his mouth?

Let me hear from you!
