Texas Summer Collection

A good painting to me has always been like a friend. It keeps me company, comforts and inspires. —Hedy Lamarr

ART. I have been looking at ways to group art. I came up with this group of the three available 4x4 inch oil paintings, presented it on Facebook, and it was liked. This grouping holds together due to the color relationships between paintings. One friend, Zanetta, came up with a name that fits—"Texas Summer Collection." I like it, too.

These three paintings are available at on an individual basis. To collect the group of three, contact me and we'll work out the details. Click here to reach me quickly.

LIFE. A few blogs ago I mentioned having an unusual given name. With the advent of the internet I was able to do research on the name. In those early days I was  looking for writers online. I joined my first forums in 1994 and came across a linguist who offered a definition of the name Vernita—the name has Gaelic roots and means a little bit of Spring. I liked that definition. My patriarchal ancestors had sprung from Scotland and Ireland, and I just happened to be born in January during "the only blizzard that blew through East Texas," as my father liked to say. "You were a breath of springtime."
