Nathan Portrait Study 1, watercolor, HOYT

This is a little study of a friend's grandson. Being the first study for this portrait, it is very rough, a bit blurry and the colors are off; however, it's a start.

  1. You made the comment that the colors were off, but personally I like the colors, the shading.

  2. Thanks! I said that because I used reds and blues in this study. Nathan's hair is actually blonde but there is a lot of shadow on the back of his head which gives it the appearance of being darker. Still, it's not red in reality ... but I'm glad you like it. The little studies can make a nice series when framed all together as a set.

    Thanks for posting!

  3. It's a great start Nita... you've captured that "little person" look...a series of these small studies would be wonderful.
