Christmas Card Art of Rudolph Red-nosed Fawn, Must be a Reindeer

This is the handmade Christmas Card that I painted for an artist friend and the only painted Christmas card I made this year.  Meet Rudolph's newborn offspring whose antlers have not yet appeared, not even as a nub on the head.

Model for the red-nosed fawn was an orphaned newborn at Friends of Texas Wildlife located out in the forest between The Woodlands and Magnolia, Texas. Their facility provides a natural setting for orphaned fawns, raccoons and other wildlife to grow until they are mature enough to be safely released into the wild. It was my privilege to experience these orphaned white-tailed deer fawns in real life. They are teeny on spindly little legs but are so agile even at that young age.

The original card was mailed off to my friend in the UK. I will be listing reproductions of the painting as a new item at Etsy gallery TXsauceStudio.Etsy.com and will pledge 100% of the profits to Friends of Texas Wildlife. Watch the blog sidebar (Etsy shop thumbnails) for the new listing.

Merry Christmas!

Thanks for following my Texas Sauce Art Life.
