Red Geranium Postcard Art

Here is my 20 minute morning sketch in ink line and watercolor wash on 4x6 inch postcard paper. Thor was in a hurry to get outside. My sketchbook was upstairs, so I grabbed the tin holding the postcard paper and scurried outside with the mini-paintbox. I typically sit outside and sketch while Thor plays and the Texas air is still comfortable.

First the line drawing began with the geranium bloom; then I worked down with the stem and added three leaves, couldn't stop and added more leaves with veining. I decided to add a wash and one thing led to another. I haven't decided whether to crop this to a square and paste it in my sketchbook or just leave it as is ... a postcard Geranium.

As a child, I was reprimanded for daydreaming. Today my daydreams morph into paintings.
